ST HUBERT CENTER IN AIN EL REMMENEH

"The Voice of the Lebanese Women" was established in Ain-El -Remmaneh in 1984 during the war.
This area was particularly touched by the war and by the social and economical crisis.
The St Hubert Center is there to answer to the different social and educational needs.

Daycare Facility:

The objective behind the daycare center was mainly to allow mothers to earn a living and becoming financially independent.

The fees are symbolic and very often free depending on the family case.

The team of childcare workers is composed of professionals with degrees in early childhood education, child development and nursing.

Youth Group (13-20):

50 teenagers gather once a week around one of our social workers to tackle the various issues that they might face: medical, social and phycho-social issues, mental problems, self-esteem, stress management, relationship with their parents, time management, school bullying, social media addiction, drugs, AIDS/HIV, communication, citizenship, patriotism, social behaviour...

Kids Group (4-12):

The daycare can receive up to 50 kids between 8 months and 3 years from 7:30 am to 5 pm.

Fun and recreational activities are organizied every Saturday.

BOOM activities during the holidays: Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, St Barbara's day...

Interaction with kids around various topics such as psychological and social problems, children's rights, all types of violence, self-confidence and esteem.

They are delivered to neighborhood women by specialists in different fields.

Topics can vary from health, to environment, to education or self-esteem.

Learning modules including Foreign language, cooking, patchwork, computer and art classes are also provided to prepare women for a better integration socially and professionally.

Some of the trainings or social integration were provided by our partners such as the below examples:

  • Vanina workshop: a luxury fashion brand whose aim is to empower underprivileged women. The training allowed women to manufacture luxury accessories for the brand, out of their own homes and provided them with a decent pay.
  • British Council - Painting and candle making workshop:this workshop’s objective was to teach a group of 40 women the art of candle making and paintingand provided them the opportunity to produce them at home

Every July, more than 200 neighborhood kids join our summer camp.

They are cared for by a team of professionals and trained (TOT) volunteers at our premises.

Many of those volunteers have once themselves attended our camps and are now giving back in return.

We partner with MEPI (Middle East Partnership Initiative) to train the volunteers and have implemented a ‘train the trainer’ program.

The summer camp main objective is to entertain underprivileged kids during the summer vacation to keep them away from the streets where they can encounter drugs, delinquency and racketeering

Saint Hubert centercounts on its donors for its financial viability. In addition, a few annual fund-raising events are implemented:

  • The traditional annual Easter ‘Maamoul’ sale and other delicacies all prepared in our kitchen by a team of ladies paid by the proceeds of the sale.

  • The Flea market (Brocante) which usually takes place in June. You can help us by donating your items to our offices any time during the year.

  • Luncheons: Once a month we organize a lunch and card playing day at Saint Hubert. Besides its fund-raising objective, this event provides paid jobs to 6 women who come in to help with the cooking and preparations.

  • Theater and movies events: proceeds of the tickets’ sale support the center.

So far, we have been financially self-sustainable thanks to our donors’ generous support. As we enter a new challenging period in Lebanon, we count on any donation to help us further continue.
